More than 1200 REA members from Plymouth county attended a free lunch and annual meeting on Tuesday February 3. Directors reelected were W G Anderson Raymond Anderson Henry Howe John F Deegan Otto Kalas Gino Johnson and Bertsei Brown. The 1958 financial report shows 448939 91 in business with a net savings of 124496 45. Part of savings retire government loans totaling 1639941 and part refunds to patrons. Net worth stood at 1102031 with liquid assets over 800000. The co op owns no generating station but distributed purchased power costing 149770 20 last year.

College Receives $130.80 Gift From Gulf Oil Corp
Westmar College reports a gift of $130.80 from Gulf Oil Corp of Pitsporation to fund direct grants instead of via foundations. MAG Gully of Gulf Oil Corp says the grants demonstrate support for free enterprise and solid educational opportunities for the nation’s youth. Westmar also receives many corporate gifts through the Iowa College Foundation.

Thompson Nominated Rotary Governor for District 561
Dr Thompson, honored at a Rotary reception on Tuesday Feb 3, is the sole nominee for governor of Rotary District 561. The election will occur during Rotary International week in New South record in June, with duties starting July 1 for a one year term. The district includes 40 clubs and 2073 members across South Dakota Iowa Nebraska and Minnesota. A meeting in Lake Placid New York is planned for mid June as part of duties.

Mary Kay Free, daughter of Mr and Mrs Francis Free, is Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow at Hinton High School. She qualified by a homemaking knowledge test taken by senior girls. Sectional Tournament Admission Policy Declared
Principal F W Aspedon announced Feb 14 that Adult season tickets and Student Activity tickets cannot be honored at any Sectional Tournament games. The tournament is run by the State Boys' High School Athletic Association. Only participating team members are exempt from paying. Admission is 75 cents for adults and 40 cents for students per evening.

Final plans for the sixth Floyd Valley Watershed Association meeting in Le Mars February 23 were approved. Ray Anderson says the turkey dinner will start at 6 30 p m at the Eagles Hall with talks by Dr HL Kalas and Aldren Erskine and the annual director election. Reservations for the 1 50 dinner are requested by mail to the First National Bank Le Mars. Door prizes and attendance prizes will be awarded.

Double Fire Monday At Cleghorn
Two fires struck the Maurice Peterson farm near Cleghorn five hours apart on Monday. A hog house burned with sows and litters dying. the barn later burned, destroying young pigs a tractor a fluibed truck and hay. Sparks damaged the Peterson home but was saved by Cleghorn and Cherokee firefighters. Cause of the fires not determined.

Burglars hit Ply mouth Coop Service station in Craig overnight taking items from a prior break in. They burglarized Treton elevator stealing cakes, Maurice Elevator cash from a coke machine, and a portable radio. Similar visits targeted Struhle Brunsville and McCormack Distributing in Le Mars. Local sheriffs say back-window entries point to the same culprits, likely local punks, with few other crimes recently.
