February 16 Start for NIPCO Right of Way Work

Northwest laws Power Co-op will begin right-of-way operations around February 16 with two men initially and more later. Landowners will be contacted while ownership certificates are prepared by Wade Woodke for affected property. Routes include a fast line from Hinton to Lester and a shorter eastward path. all lines connect to a sub-station at Hinton fed from the Missouri River.

Move of Trinity Lutheran Church Near Merrill Planned

January thaw yields relief on icy streets

The January Farm Bureau gathering met January 29 at Mrs. James Hoyt's home with co host Ray Sedlacek. Shopper's car crashes into store front in icy conditions

Mike Gergen, 72, of 500 First Street S. W., lost control near noon Tuesday. His 1949 Plymouth climbed a low curb and struck the B and G store, shattering plate glass but causing no injuries. Mrs. Gergen was inside shopping. no one else nearby. The driver blamed a slipping foot and possible pedal misstep, with ice in the gutter reducing curb height to about three inches.

Farm Bureau Membership Reaches New High in Plymouth County

Plymouth County Farm Bureau membership climbs to 1730 families for 1953 led by fieldman Floyd Blakely. The county quota is 1775 set by local leaders, with 225 new families joining and several townships already at or above their targets. A few towns near completion include Ameries, Garfield, Liberty, Meadow, Plymouth, Preston, Sioux and Westfield. Regular city council meeting was postponed as members were away.

Plymouth county jail terms for driving offenses in 1939 and 1949

C M V I Gerald Van Lact of Sheldon was picked up this week by Plymouth county authorities. He is charged with failing to pay a fine for driving a motor vehicle while intercased in 1939. He was sentenced to serve thirty days in the county jail. Sheriff Frank Schol er reports Arthur Flelur of Sioux City was sentenced on the same count and will serve ninety four days in the county gas. He was charged with driving a motor car while intoxicated, also in 1949, and failed to pay the fine imposed at that time.
