New Pastor Rev Walter Resner to Lead Kingsley Church

Rev Walter Resner formerly assistant at St Pauls Lutheran in Sioux City will be installed as pastor of First Lutheran Church in Kingsley Iowa on February 8. He is a Concordia seminary graduate and will be installed by Sioux City hospital chaplain Rev W B C Sen. The installation sermon will be preached by Rev Rueben Meyer Marcus Iowa, new visitor for the Missouri Synod Sioux City circuit. Several Sioux City area pastors will assist, with additional helpers from Marcus Correctionville Le Mars and Climbing Hill. 2986 passengers arrived in Seattle from the Far East aboard a passenger liner.

Accidents On Icy Streets In Town Reported

Two crashes occurred on icy streets involving 1946 Chevrolets driven by Robert Schroeder and George Kaiser at Fourth Street and Second Avenue S W on Sunday February 1 around 3 00 p m. A second incident at Plymouth Street and Second Avenue on Thursday January 29 about 12 45 p m involved Alvin Kolker driving a 1950 Chevrolet and Mike Wells driving a 1951 Chevrolet pickup. Three cars stopped at a stop sign where the lead car was unidentified.

FHA Group Finds Costs Going Up

The Farm Ownership Division of the Farmers Home Administration held its annual meeting January 22 at the Eagles Club in Le Mars with 30 members from Plymouth Lyon Cherokee and Sioux counties. 1952 farm operations were analyzed showing higher gross income but also higher living and operating costs narrowing net income. Production averages rose with pigs per litter 6.4 and butterfat 313.5 per cow while corn averaged 64 bushels per acre despite hail areas. Home produced food value averaged 850 per family. discussion included crop conditions conservation and yields led by Frederick R. Schneider and H L Young with FHA supervisor Carl Marelle presiding.
