Mr and Mrs J. Sehwebach of Cranville announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Ivy Murs to Ray Georgen, son of Mike Georgen of Granville. The wedding will be Monday February 6 at 8 30 a m at St Josephs Church.
Lloyd Mayer president of the Masonic Temple association said rumors that the Ralfs Baker Mfg Co plant would be leased to a firm making sub assemblies for a large appliance maker are untrue. He noted the Ralfs Baker plans to renew its lease, with only minor building maintenance details to resolve, and emphasized the value of the local labor pool. Wilbur Aalfs confirmed the lease renewal talks are with their attorneys and that no departure from Le Mars is planned.

A Lawson Associates study covered about 150 drives nationwide for nursing homes, hospitals, gyms, schools and churches. Le Mars’ Gehlen schools drive raised pledges totaling 375,000, 240 percent of the goal, a national record, with Algona as the second Iowa city.

An intersection collision at 4th Street and First Ave Southwest occurred Saturday February 7 around 9 50 am involving Arie Bomgaars driving a 1948 Dodge and John Miller in a 1940 Ford. Another crash three miles east of Highway 99 Monday February 9 about 1 00 am involved Leon Marcus Vent driving a 1948 Hudson and Pat Germer in a 1949 Chevrolet with minor damage and no estimate given. Weekend guests at Mr and Mrs W E Keller included their son W H Keller, soon to open a drug store in Salina Kansas, while Mr and Mrs R K Nelson of Des Moines visited Mrs Nelson's parents.
John B. Wolf died after a six month illness at 83. Born September 13 1869 in Bellvue Iowa he moved to the area as a youth and married Mary Ann Schicker on June 22 1897 in Remsen. He farmed near Alton then retired to Le Mars in 1926. Funeral from St Joseph’s Church Feb 1953 with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Survived by wife Mary three sons Sultus Cornelius Celestinity. three brothers William Edward Peter. three sisters Mary Anna Storhbeen and Chesane Thelen. 23 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by two sons Elmer and Joseph. Remains at Wiltgen Tuedtke funeral home.
The Christian Mothers Society of St. Catherine's parish Oyens hosts a public card party Wednesday evening February 1 at Columbus hall Oyens. Nominal admission luncheon and prizes. All welcome and attendance appreciated by organizers.
The Oyens water project moved forward after a Thursday meeting with Nelson of Spencer Iowa a state health official who approved the well location and urged relocating near by private sewer outlets. Water samples will be analyzed and a special election will decide bond funding for the project.

Wayne W Lilly a 43 year old Westfield farmer died Wednesday after an operation. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Congregational church in Westfield with burial in Hawarden Cemetery. Rossow funeral home in charge. Mr Lilly was born March 27 1907. Survivors include his widow parents a son a daughter and a brother.
Edgar Hirsch a well known Le Mars automobile parts dealer died after a weeklong illness following surgery at St. Joseph’s hospital in Sioux City. He was 46, married since 1917 to Violet Schaper and survived by wife, four children, three brothers and one sister with burial at Le Mars city cemetery.
Charles C McKillipps longtime Plymouth County resident whose funeral was held Thursday in Springfield Indiana. Surviving relatives include numerous cousins in Plymouth County. He was born January 1 1882 in Union County Dakota Territory.
Le Mars planning commission discussed future needs of the sanitary sewer system at its regular meeting in City Hall. Major Long reported on overall sewer problems and possible extensions or improvements, noteing state health board may require a sewerage disposal plant in about five years. A preliminary survey by engineers was considered to study current and future needs and to be reviewed at the February 25 meeting.
Kingsley residents led a county drive with 1027.91 added by chairman Herbert Dugan and nearly 1 dollar per capita. Le Mars reported about 3000 from a 6000 population area, while rural contributors topped the county total near 10,000 staged on Le Mars’s downtown thermometer. The drive wraps with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra concert February 18 at Le Mars High School, featuring Larry Day.
Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Berding Sr were held in a Clinton Catholic Church last Friday after four months of illness. She died Monday in a local hospital following surgery. Attending from Remyen were Rose Berding Clarence Berding and Joan Krogman with Rudy Plagge of Alton. Survivors include the widower and several sisters and brothers.
Marynate Mulder infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry B Mulder of Orange City died at Grossmann hospital after a virus infection. Funeral services were held at home and at the First Christian Reformed church with Rev Dusch, burial in Orange Cay cemetery. The Mulders have another child, a boy.
