Mother and man injured in car crash near Le Mars

A Newman Grove couple Mia and Mrs David Monson were hurt when their 1954 Chevrolet skid on ice on highway 73 near the Charles Coad farm between Le Mars and Merrill. The man, 33, suffered a broken hip cap and lacerations. the woman had a fractured skull and other injuries. Both remained conscious after arrival at Sacred Heart Hospital. Deputy Jim Mertes investigated. about $1000 damage was noted to the car. Second crash near the Coad farm in a week was also reported.

Three Survivors Improve After Ireton Accident

Three survivors remain in Hawarden hospital after a car truck collision two miles west of Ireton Cemetery Corner. Mrs Irene Popken, conscious again, learned from hospital staff that her husband Arthur was killed. The funeral was held Wednesday at St Jonas Lutheran Church in Craig. Mrs Popken suffers a cracked neck vertebra. 7 year old DuWasne has a broken leg and eight cracked ribs. Ed Van Engen, the truck driver, is improved though dislocated right hip and broken arm keep him under care.

Accident at Union Hotel corner in Le Mars hits cars

The report says a 1930 Ford, driven by Harvey, stopped for a red light at the Union Hotel corner when Louis Lem in a 1948 Chevrolet failed to brake on icy roads. Lem rear ended the Hauge car. The collision occurred Monday morning in Le Mars. Mrs. Anna Klemme of Le Mars was fined Friday for an extended visa. Her daughter and family, the M. E. Hinrichs in Chisago, are noted in the same report.
