City council expected to approve a contract with Amerikan LaFrance tomorrow for a new fire engine at about 17000 dollars depending on extras such as a 35 foot ladder. The old Knott would remain for emergencies while the International truck may cover farm fires. Delivery promised in 90 days with 75 percent of the price due now and the rest later with no interest.

Three Survivors Still In Hawarden
A tonch car collision at an intersection west of the relun cemetery corner Saturday at 10:00 m took one life and sent three others to Hawarden hospital. Arthur G. Pophen of Craig died at the scene and his wife Irene and son Duane were treated with fair condition. Edward Van Engen driver of the truck was listed in good condition. Survivors include the Pophen family and Van Engen, with details scarce. Funeral for Arthur Pophen will be at St. John’s Lutheran in Craig.
