Accident on Second Street and First Avenue causes minor damage

Slippery streets led to a Tuesday crash at Second Street and First Avenue SE. Involved were Stanley Holzman, driving a 1947 Chevrolet, and Lea Langer, in a 1953 Dodge. No serious damage to either vehicle.

J C Penney announces a special year end payment for over 50 000 associates across 1639 stores offices and warehouses nationwide. Accident Victim Improves After Icy Highway Crash

One man injured in a collision involving a convertible and two semitrailers on icy Highway 3 near Remyen during the year’s first big snow. George Edwin Mitchell, 46, of Cleghorn, transport to Sacred Heart hospital in improved condition though full injuries undetermined. Semi drivers Ralph Sanders of Ellsworth and Werner Wagner of Ellsworth were cited as the trucks skidded and veered into ditches. Mitchell’s car sustained about 400 dollars in damage and was towed from the scene.

Carl Berg of Le Mars learns of his father Carl E. Berg's death in Minneapolis from a heart attack. The elder Berg, 63, was active in a Minneapolis paint and glass business. William Deters a former Le Mars resident died at home from a heart attack on Saturday November 27 in Salem South Dakota after months of ill health. He was born in Le Mars and funeral services were held November 30 at St Marys church in Salem with burial in the church cemetery. A large number of relatives attended.
