Le Mars Poll Favors Unified Benevolent Fund

E W Rogers secretary of the Le Mars chamber reports 391 of 400 ballots returned in favor of a community benevolent fund. The survey supports joining collections into a single fund to reduce separate drives. Orville Nielsen takes over organizing duties, with temporary chairmanship in place for a permanent body.

Molzen Takes New Post at Westmar College

Lloyd Molzen of Le Mars is named instructor in business administration at Westmar College. The college expands its long-standing business education and secretarial programs by creating a dedicated business administration instruction. Molzen recently graduated from Westmar and will pursue graduate work during summers. Professor Clayton Feis remains in Economics while Miss Rose Hoover continues in Business Education and Secretarial Training.

Local businessmen fund 57 calves for 4 H FFA auction

A group of 35 Le Mars business and professional men formed a fund to share expenses for buying 57 baby beef calves at the fair auction. They paid 13,250.27 for the stock weighing 57,400 lb and sold it the next day on the Sioux City market for 14,071.41. The average shrink was about 28 lb per head and the overall loss or gain depended on the purchase price per head.

Basketball Fans Involved In Collision

John Laux files a lawsuit for 34997.01 against Charles Frerichs and Larry Dobson over a collision on Hiway 75 while en route to a basketball game in Sioux City. The petition claims Frerichs hit Will Penning’s car, sending it into the wrong lane, then Dobson struck Penning, injuring Laux and causing disfigurement. The crash occurred about a mile northeast of Merrill.

Mrs Gordan Qean Snava formerly Bonnie Fasten exchanged marriage vows with Gordon Snava at St John Lutheran Church Merrill. She is daughter of James and Mrs Alveston. He is son of Lee Swasa and Mrs Swasa of Chehalis Washington. They plan to live in Ellensburg Washington.

Crash Victim Taken By Car Window In North Iowa Crash

Mrs Gertie Brummel 70 of Hull suffered a broken pelvis and left shoulder in a collision two miles north of Hinton on Highway 75 at four pm Tuesday. Also injured were Gerrit Brummel 37 and Eunice Brummel 37. They were taken to Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars after the elderly woman was removed through a back window. Patrolman Lyle Pell noted rain during the crash. The Brummells, Reid and Jasperson cars were involved. Jasperson’s daughter Teri escaped injury. Damage totaled about ten dollars to the Jasperson car.

October 4 Big Day in Le Mars Nets Circus and Club Meet

Buglers Out To Battle At Marcus Pageant This Sunday
