Farmer bargaining plan discussed by NFO leaders
National president Oren Staley and Phil Allen of Sioux City and Omaha spoke at an NFO meeting outlining a voluntary bargaining plan to raise farm prices. The August 27 Remsen gathering targets all farmers in the 5th district with speeches and a lengthy discussion. The release cites the Capper Volstead Act and the Farmers Holiday parallels, but proposes “collective bargaining” as the banner term to avoid past pitfalls.
