Hap Perry died at his Le Mars home after a heart attack on August 1959. He was 58 and worked as bookkeeper in Le Mars with past roles in lumber firms. Funeral services will be at the First United Methodist with burial in Le Mars city cemetery. survived by wife and three children.

A number of Plymouth county girls were included in the graduation of nurses at St. Joseph's College of Nursing in Sioux City on August 17. Forty Birks received A.M.N. degrees according to the Sioux City Press. Floyd Valley Watershed Association directors met at the R E A Building Le Mars on Friday night August 7 with six teen directors present. They arranged conservation exhibits for the Le Mars and Sioux Center fairs and planned member registration drawings offering a 4% mile terrace. Henry Reinders and Leo Braun will run Sioux booth while George Bindner Exson Toel Kloster and Ray Anderson manage Plymouth registration with the Plymouth Soil Conservation District. A 44 mile terrace prize will be awarded for the best conservation slogan. Directors praised terraces for reducing runoff and noted Floyd River tributaries avoided flooding. They accepted Remsen City invitations for the next meeting at the VFW Hall on September 30 at 8 00 p.m.
