New Teachers In Le Mars Schools
Le Mars begins the 1950 51 school year Monday August 31 with about 2000 students. The district lists 496 high school and 1518 elementary pupils. Enrollment shows 688 elementary in Le Mars 323 in rural 241 in Merrill. Superintendent Archambault leads 91 teachers 33 in junior senior high 24 in Le Mars elementary 22 in rural schools 10 in Merrill elementary. Sunday night the sheriff reported a car crash in Merrill involving Larry Blick driving a 1953 Ford. He hit a signal light abutment, then collided with the Great Northern office, wrecking the building. He escaped injury and returned to work at Swifts.

Mrs Brown Plans Alaska Conducted College Tour
Mrs Brown and her sister Mrs John C Smith of Riverside depart Seattle on a faculty led tour of Alaska. They will visit Juneau air banks Anchorage and other state points, returning in time for Westmar College’s new school year.

Remsen girls from St Mary theugh school participated in religious investiture at Mt St Francis convent Dubuque. Loretta Vaske received the white veil and will be Sister Melinda with 24 others. Rose Mary Vaske earned the black veil and will be Sister Mary Lucretia. Janet Haverkump and Janice Rover also took religious names as Sisters Mary Anastasis and Sister Mary Charlotte. Le Mars Drum and Bugle Corps Honored on Appreciation Day
Le Mars Drum and Bugle Corps, state champions in Cedar Rapids, received a rousing downtown welcome on Central Avenue. Dick Masuen presented Dr. Parker with a desk clock, and Dr. Parker recalled the corps' 1956 and 1959 state titles while promising more victories.
