The Le Mars Chamber of Commerce will sponsor morning and afternoon events on August 21 as Plymouth County businessmen plan a final summer celebration for area youngsters. A kid parade starts at the library, with prize categories for pets, costumes, and floats, plus a mid afternoon kids ball games and carnival rides reduced to 1 cent per ride.

Johanna M Howard obituary funeral held Akron Iowa
Johanna M Howard 63 former Akron resident died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. She was born January 27, 1894 in Le Mars and married Bert rand Howard in Akron. Survivors include her widower, two Akron sons Clayton and Freeman, daughters Ida Mae Heitman Denver and Lora Dale Sioux City, sister Lena Bool Hawarden, brothers Richard and John Camp Portland, and 14 grandchildren.

Akron celebrates Diamond Jubilee Days on August 22 and 23 with citizens touring nearby towns.
