Dennis Penning To Keep BB Bullet
Dennis Penning, eight, son of Mr and Mrs Vincent Penning of Granville, was discharged from Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars after being accidentally shot in the stomach with a pellet gun a week earlier. The lead pellet traveled through his spine and liver and lodged near the backbone. Doctors expect a protective covering to form around it and may choose not to remove the pellet. Dennis pulled the gun through a yard fence, pulling the trigger and firing into his stomach. An operation earlier sewed the wound openings caused by the pellet. By Monday evening he was improving and was released Saturday.
