Large Transformer Arrives for Hinton Substation
The 86 ton transformer, 71 feet tall and costing 200000, arrived by rail for the T1OLQU0 substation site north of Swax City. It can transform 191000 volts to 69000 volts powering Iowa’s high voltage grid from Sioux City to Waterloo 225 miles apart. The Hinton substation, nearing completion, strengthens the Iowa Electric Grid to improve emergency power dispatch during floods and other catastrophes. A separate meeting of the Association for Retarded Children occurred Friday in Sioux Center with attendees from Osceota Lyon Sioux O'Brien Plymouth and Cherokee counties.

George Kohler formerly of Le Mats died of a heart attack on vacation near Temple City California where he had lived in Temple City for years. Survivors include wife and eight year old daughter Diane, father Henry Kohler of Long Beach, three brothers Elmer of Le Mars Herbert of Remsen Frank of Wisconsin and one sister Curtis of Pasadena. Funeral services set for Thursday at Ul a.m. Attending will be Mr and Mrs Elmer Kohler and Herbert Kohler.

Stealing 16 Foot Wood Bridge Alarms County Officials
E. E. Nebon denied any link between the disappearance of a county owned bridge and pressure from the Town Contractors Association. The 16 foot bridge, located 7 miles west of Kingsley in Lincoln Township, vanished on a weekend with its lumber and bolts missing. Sheriff Frank Scholer plans further checks, while the county board estimates a difficult salvage job for whoever removed it. The theft began Friday night and ended Saturday night, totaling about 19500 dollars in loss including stock, planks, pilings, bolts, and lumber.
