A Le Mars motorist reports dust drifts along a fourteen mile stretch to Bancroft with snowlike piles. Sheriff Frank Scholer saw highway plows clearing dust drifts between Webster City and Fort Dodge. Planned rain prayers stall while private prayers rise.
Neighbors and friends gathered Wednesday at the Ed Kurtz home at 738 Third Avenue W to surprise Mr. and Mrs. Kurtz and Carol Annily. Guests include Clarence Reeves Jr, John Murphy Sr, Ben Rubland, Oscar Asmussen, Vonnie, Dianne, Frank Rolfes, Norma, John Murphy Jr and children, Edmund Jockum, with a lunch brought by attendees. The group pledged thanks and an invitation to return, noting April 25 as Mrs. Kurtz birthday.

A son born to Mr and Mrs Robert Meier of Remsen on April 70 at Sacred Heart. Mr and Mrs Alex Van Voorst have a girl born at Sacred Heart on April with the parents living in Le Mars. A boy born to Mr and Mrs Donald Fuckel of Kingsley on April 25 at Sacred Heart. Mr and Mrs Wilbert Miller of Le Mars are parents of a girl born at Sacred Heart on April 25. A girl born to Mr and Mrs Roscoe Small of Le Mars at Sacred Heart on April 26. A son named David Allen born to Mr and Mrs Richard Meier of Sioux Center at the community hospital on Wednesday April 25. A son born to Mr and Mrs Francis Croain of Meriden on April 7 at Sacred Heart hospital.

McKee Motors Co of Le Mars filed a civil suit in district court against Joseph A. Walter for 208.25 plus interest and costs. Walter, formerly from Minnesota, now has an unknown address. His 1950 Dodge was overhauled November 28, 1953, at the McKee garage with 188.25 in work and 60 in storage for a total 248.25. 40 has been paid, leaving 208.25 due. A writ of attachment was issued against Walter's property.
The Le Mars Ministerial Association urges each church to observe Rogation or Rural Life Sunday on May 6 with individual services and prayers of thanks for crops and rain. It contrasts with a union service and notes a general observance could be stronger. The group also passed a resolution opposing Sunday store openings.
Coroner J E Bunker ruled Keith Jack Tentinger 32 formerly of Marcus died by his own action. State safety officials removed his name from highway accident lists and defined self inflicted motor vehicle injury as not a highway accident. The loan funds a standby station if Fort Rendall Dam fails, affecting Sioux Plymouth O'Brien Woodbury Cherokee and Ida counties Rural Electric Cooperatives.
