Headon Collision On No 75 Sends Three To Hospital
Three people were hospitalized after a headon crash four miles north of Le Mars on Highway 75 at 5:30 p m. Dr Charles Starr, 33 osteopath, and his wife Barbara Starr 29, were pinned in the front seat with facial and scalp injuries and loss of teeth. Dr Starr and his wife suffered cuts and bruises. Barbara Starr was in a new car with under 100 miles. Mrs Wieland ioneer driver of a 1951 Ford Victoria suffered head cuts and was thrown from the vehicle. Opal Witland of Hawarden had head cuts and bruises and was listed as in good condition. Donald Baack of Grant Township first on scene and called the ambulance. Cars were brought to Le Mars by Stops Brothers and declared total losses.

Anniena Peters of 310 4th Ave Le Mars died at home in April 1953 after long illness. Born November 22 1869 in Newall Iowa she moved to Remsen in 1896 and married Frank Peters. They farmed near Remsen and near Chirk South Dakota later moving to Le Mars in 1945. She was 53 at death? Pushed Auto Fire Damages 1941 Ford Near Remsen
Rural fire chief Bud Phillips reports Remsen fire department responded to a fire on the Joe Altman farm west of Remsen. A 1941 Ford car pushed through a field near farm buildings caught fire. it belonged to a son of John Theisen. Theisen and son acted to stop the blaze before the department arrived. Fire chief Pete Treinen was away when called.

An accident occurred on Central Avenue and First Street Northwest on Wednesday April 22. Anna Frerichs driving a 1947 Dodge traveled south when Martin Huckle backed from the curb and struck her car. No damage to the Ford occurred. Frerichs car sustained net side damage.

A grass fire broke out behind Bel or More on Highway 75 north around 1 pm today. Le Mars Fire Department arrived with two trucks, quickly controlling flames from raked brush after a telephone pole caught fire. The pole was saved amid involvement of thirty five firefighters. Friday evening guests at John Conover’s home were Mr and Mrs Bo J Roddy.
