Hinton Crash Not Fatal Injures Sioux City Couple

Two elderly Sioux Cityans were injured in a two car collision on highway 75 south of Hinton. Dora Sandberg, 71, suffered hip and back injuries. Edward Sandberg, 74, was admitted for observation in fair condition. Everett H. Onstor of Omaha was the other driver. Patrolmen and the Plymouth county coroner investigated as both cars ended in ditches.

Mary Ellen Kelly of Marcus is celebrated for courage and activity despite physical limits. She will be saluted Friday April 24 on Bob Hopz Daytime Show NBC at 12 45. The Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation dedicates a Mary Ellen Kelly Fellowship to fund a young doctor to study and treat crippling arthritis.

Rural Youth Camp Plans At Storm Lake

The Northwest Iowa Rural Youth Groups met at the Farm Bureau office in Storm Lake to organize the District R Y P Camp at Lake Okoboji June 13 to 15. Youth Square Dance Invitation for Plymouth County

Rural youths in Plymouth County are invited to a square dance on Monday April 27 at 8 p m in the Girls 3-H building at the Fair Grounds. High school seniors receive a special invitation. Fred Reker 68 a noted Remsen farmer died in his Lismore Minnesota home on Friday April 10 from a heart attack after a day of farm work and shopping. Injuries Reported At Local School And Medical Updates

Under Doctors Care Donald Hoss son of Frank and Mrs Hoss Le Mars was injured playing at St Joseph's School. He suffered a severe head blow and convulsions after a visit to Dr Bendixon's office. He is 14 and his mother said x rays are being taken. Mary McCarthy of Akron is a medical patient at Akron hospital. Other hospital patients include Joe Koyl Elk Point Mrs Alice Bryant southeast of Akron Mrs Letts Newgard Akron and Hugo Ludwigs northeast of Akron. Death of M R McDonald in Miami At 101

Mrs J L Reeves mourns father M R McDonald who died at his Miami home aged 101. He was the world’s third oldest Mason. Funeral services were held in Miami with Mrs Reeves unable to attend. Attending were her son Robert Reeves of New York City and her brother O B McDonald of Sioux City Iowa.

A series of minor traffic offenses appears with defendants and fines. Gerald White faces reckless driving charges with costs totaling 27 dollars. Donoley Lynbaack cited for speeding a truck and costs of 10 dollars. J Con received a stop sign citation with 7.5 dollars in costs. Luther Smith charged for overlength with 5 dollars costs. Rhythm Band Performs At Franklin PTA Meeting April 22

The kindergarten rhythm band will entertain at the final Franklin PTA meeting on Wednesday April 22 at 745 PM in the Franklin school auditorium. A large turnout is expected to hear these musicians of tomorrow. The March meeting showed interest in textbook handling and grade distribution will be discussed. Officer elections and By-Laws adoption will occur, with plans for next year welcomed. Members and Franklin school parents are urged to attend.

Le Mars St John’s Town Defeat Wisconsin Champ

Le Mars St John’s Town defeated the Wisconsin champion Cottage Grove 65 to 49 in a hard fought game. Key contributors were Don McDougall 12 and Keith Ren 12 points, with Bonnema and Jim McDougal Jr scoring 16 and 8 respectively. The second quarter broke the visitors’ rhythm with a 22 point burst. In the consolation game Wisconsin beat Allison, Iowa 33 to 53.

Shower Honors Miss Bernice Feller at Eagles Hall

A Sunday afternoon shower at the Eagles hall in Le Mars honored Miss Bernice Feller of Sioux City. Guests played games and the honoree opened many gifts. The luncheon featured a yellow and white color theme. Hostesses were Mrs. John Felter of Remsen, Mrs. Frank Orban of Le Mars, and Mrs. Kenneth Utesch of Merrill.

Death of Edward Joe Gengler Four Year Old in Iowa Hospital

Edward Joe Gengler, four, son of Mr and Mrs George Gengler of Sioux City Iowa formerly Le Mars residents, died at the University of Iowa Hospital after a week of treatment for a facied birthmark. Mrs Gengler, formerly Berni Mayrose, is sister of Fritz Mayrose. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Women of Achievement honors Miss Josephine Winslow

Miss Josephine Winslow former Le Mars teacher is named Woman of Achievement for the area. She will be honored in Sioux City on May 5. She taught at Clark School, retired in 1941, active in First Methodist church, Wesleyan Service Guild, choir, and piano. She does intricate needlework, gardens, and belongs to Le Mars Sunshine and Le Mars clubs.

Freking Mayer Wedding Party at St Joseph Le Mars

The Freking Mayer wedding was photographed by Nas Studio after the ceremony at St Joseph's Church in Le Mars on Wednesday April 15, 1953. The couple, Norbert Meyer groom and Colleen Freking bride, hosted a $30 a dozen breakfast at the Harpenau home in Le Mars, and a noon wedding dinner for 80 at the Eagles clubrooms. A navy ensemble adorned the bride and her mother wore a navy frock. corsages were carnations. Reception for 200 featured Miss Freking and guests. kitchen duties were handled by local hostesses and helpers. The couple plan to reside on a farm near Remsen.
