Mr. and Mrs. John Feiler and family of Remsen, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crean and family, Miss Barbara Feiler and Mrs. Ben Freking were dinner guests Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Huls.

The 45th Division Headquarters, located midway between Seoul and Kimpo Air Base, sits about 20 miles from the front. A long-serving Army officer notes he has been in Korea since February and has served in the Army for five years.
City Council discusses Company K lighting map showing seventy nine new units on twenty six foot standards in the business district. D F Retchen of Iowa Public Service says construction could start in the fall with units delivered within ten weeks. company had prior commitments to implement the system in 1954.
Legend Vail Dedham and Westside are launching a street lighting project with aim to start late this year and finish by early next year. Similar systems in eight other communities served by the company will delay street lighting crews. the work will occur in Lohrville Newell Storm Lake Emmersburg Whiting and others.
Two elderly Sioux Cityans were injured in a two car collision on highway 75 south of Hinton. Dora Sandberg, 71, suffered hip and back injuries. Edward Sandberg, 74, was admitted for observation in fair condition. Everett H. Onstor of Omaha was the other driver. Patrolmen and the Plymouth county coroner investigated as both cars ended in ditches.
Mary Ellen Kelly of Marcus is celebrated for courage and activity despite physical limits. She will be saluted Friday April 24 on Bob Hopz Daytime Show NBC at 12 45. The Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation dedicates a Mary Ellen Kelly Fellowship to fund a young doctor to study and treat crippling arthritis.
Michael Klein of Remsen purchased a 1953 Plymouth. Harold Eilers of Le Mars bought a 1953 Chevrolet, with Nick and Frances Kenkel of Remsen also taking a 1953 Chevrolet. Frank H. Weber of Le Mars and Herman Wilken of Brunsville bought 1953 Fords and a 1953 Ford. Lord Howard Juhl of Remsen and Charles Taylor of Kingsley appear in the 1953 into 1954 car listings along with Dr. H Wolfson of Kingsley. Ma G Stevens of Omaha, Nebraska visited the Wormley family in Remsen.
The Northwest Iowa Rural Youth Groups met at the Farm Bureau office in Storm Lake to organize the District R Y P Camp at Lake Okoboji June 13 to 15. Harlan Geiger of Ames assisted with plans for activities including sports crafts and leadership training. Plymouth County will handle camp registration.
A sixth birthday party for Dale Van Voorst was hosted at his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Van Voorst home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Morehead of Orange City Mr. and Mrs. Richard Van Voorst Sir Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Morehead of Le Mats Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Morehead Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dobbert of Seney and Angie Abl of Sioux City. The evening featured visiting and Dale opening many presents with a luncheon prepared by his mother and grandmother.
Rural youths in Plymouth County are invited to a square dance on Monday April 27 at 8 p m in the Girls 3-H building at the Fair Grounds. High school seniors receive a special invitation. Miss Clara Luther of Sioux City will lead the event with mixing and circle games and square dances. Admission is free.
Fred Reker 68 a noted Remsen farmer died in his Lismore Minnesota home on Friday April 10 from a heart attack after a day of farm work and shopping. Survived by widow Kate Kern Reker two daughters seven sons. a son Frederick a Winona seminarian to be ordained in 1955. brothers Frank Remsen Ben Randolph Nebr and sister Mrs Elizabeth Pick Lismore. services held at Lismore Catholic church with high mass.
Under Doctors Care Donald Hoss son of Frank and Mrs Hoss Le Mars was injured playing at St Joseph's School. He suffered a severe head blow and convulsions after a visit to Dr Bendixon's office. He is 14 and his mother said x rays are being taken. Mary McCarthy of Akron is a medical patient at Akron hospital. Other hospital patients include Joe Koyl Elk Point Mrs Alice Bryant southeast of Akron Mrs Letts Newgard Akron and Hugo Ludwigs northeast of Akron. A son was born April 10 1953 to Mr and Mrs Curtis Lewison Jr Akron. A daughter born April 12 1953 to Mr and Mrs Vernon Bye southeast of Akron. A son born April 15 1953 to Mr and Mrs Dwight Brown southeast of Akron. A son born April 16 1953 in Sioux City Iowa to Mr and Mrs Marvin Grube Kingsley Iowa. A daughter born to Mr and Mrs Marvin Richards Hinton Iowa. Mrs Dale Zimmerman of Le Mars admitted Friday to St Vincent's hospital in Sioux City. Everett Sam's parents welcomed a 9 lb 3 oz boy at Sacred Heart hospital on April 15 with two sisters Clara and Beverly. Mrs Margaret Walker Primghar spent the weekend with her daughter Jo and her parents Mr and Mrs R U Clark.

Mrs J L Reeves mourns father M R McDonald who died at his Miami home aged 101. He was the world’s third oldest Mason. Funeral services were held in Miami with Mrs Reeves unable to attend. Attending were her son Robert Reeves of New York City and her brother O B McDonald of Sioux City Iowa.
A series of minor traffic offenses appears with defendants and fines. Gerald White faces reckless driving charges with costs totaling 27 dollars. Donoley Lynbaack cited for speeding a truck and costs of 10 dollars. J Con received a stop sign citation with 7.5 dollars in costs. Luther Smith charged for overlength with 5 dollars costs. Earl Fellerman assessed overweight violation with 28.25 dollars costs. Eat Howe cited for no safety chain with 5 dollars costs.
The kindergarten rhythm band will entertain at the final Franklin PTA meeting on Wednesday April 22 at 745 PM in the Franklin school auditorium. A large turnout is expected to hear these musicians of tomorrow. The March meeting showed interest in textbook handling and grade distribution will be discussed. Officer elections and By-Laws adoption will occur, with plans for next year welcomed. Members and Franklin school parents are urged to attend.
Phi Sigma Chi held a Monday meeting in Thoren Hall with guest speaker Mrs. Ruby McIntosh, Westmar art instructor, sharing ideas on art for young children. President Jeanette Schendel led business. a note urged observing Elementary Teachers Day on April 29 to inspire seniors to pursue elementary teaching careers. refreshments followed. Le Mars St John’s Town defeated the Wisconsin champion Cottage Grove 65 to 49 in a hard fought game. Key contributors were Don McDougall 12 and Keith Ren 12 points, with Bonnema and Jim McDougal Jr scoring 16 and 8 respectively. The second quarter broke the visitors’ rhythm with a 22 point burst. In the consolation game Wisconsin beat Allison, Iowa 33 to 53.
A Sunday afternoon shower at the Eagles hall in Le Mars honored Miss Bernice Feller of Sioux City. Guests played games and the honoree opened many gifts. The luncheon featured a yellow and white color theme. Hostesses were Mrs. John Felter of Remsen, Mrs. Frank Orban of Le Mars, and Mrs. Kenneth Utesch of Merrill.
Edward Joe Gengler, four, son of Mr and Mrs George Gengler of Sioux City Iowa formerly Le Mars residents, died at the University of Iowa Hospital after a week of treatment for a facied birthmark. Mrs Gengler, formerly Berni Mayrose, is sister of Fritz Mayrose. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
Miss Josephine Winslow former Le Mars teacher is named Woman of Achievement for the area. She will be honored in Sioux City on May 5. She taught at Clark School, retired in 1941, active in First Methodist church, Wesleyan Service Guild, choir, and piano. She does intricate needlework, gardens, and belongs to Le Mars Sunshine and Le Mars clubs.
George Wormly of Los Angeles stayed with his brother and sister in law Mr and Mrs D S over the weekend in Le Mars. Frank Rojeski of Berkley and Mrs Herman Van Zuiden of Denver arrived Wednesday visiting Coppock and Miller households and plan to depart Mars midweek.
Members of the 100 B P W in Le Mars gathered at the Elks Club for the Spring District Meeting. Iowa-wide presence included Alma Rawlings as guest speaker and Odessa Cummins as district director. Lessons on club improvement and program planning were shared amid musical selections and a spring table setting. Election plans for 1933 34 and district events were noted.
The Freking Mayer wedding was photographed by Nas Studio after the ceremony at St Joseph's Church in Le Mars on Wednesday April 15, 1953. The couple, Norbert Meyer groom and Colleen Freking bride, hosted a $30 a dozen breakfast at the Harpenau home in Le Mars, and a noon wedding dinner for 80 at the Eagles clubrooms. A navy ensemble adorned the bride and her mother wore a navy frock. corsages were carnations. Reception for 200 featured Miss Freking and guests. kitchen duties were handled by local hostesses and helpers. The couple plan to reside on a farm near Remsen.
A large Open House and buffet marked Mrs. B. McManus’s 100th birthday with 200 guests at Dr. and Mrs. James Morris home. Attendees included Miss Margaret Green, Mrs. Charles von Berg, and club members from Le Mars. A tiered cake, flowers, and candles highlighted the afternoon events. An obituary correction notes Mrs. John McArthur of Gleichen, Canada, was misnamed in Thursday’s Globe-Post.
