A Sunday evening accident near Preston township involved a 1958 Ford driven by Eugene Buhman and a 1956 Chrysler driven by M. E. Atkinson. The crash damaged both cars on a gravel road three miles west and one mile north of Brunsville. Mrs. Atkinson and her head injuries prompted hospitalization in Akron while the others were uninjured.

Car Fire Not Extensive Near Central High School
The Le Mars fire department responded to a car fire near 414 1st Ave. So We near Central High School around 7:30 p.m. A passerby alerted fire crews who extinguished a blaze in the back cushion. Owner Paul Henrich said the loss was limited to the cushion area with about four square inches burned, plus a burned jacket in the back seat. The car was driven to school by James Henrich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Henrich.

Accident harms two steers on Highway 12 near Akron
An estimated $500 damage occurred to a 1959 Chevrolet when driver William M Hartman 22 of Akron could not avoid a group of black steers on Highway 12 about five miles north of Akron. He swerved left but struck two steers, killing one and crippling the other. The carcass was taken to Akron. The sheriff investigated the mishap.
