Funeral services for James Calhoon 68 will be at 2 pm Friday at Luken's funeral home Le Mars with burial at Le Mars Memorial cemetery Rev Alfred Karpins of Peace Lutheran Sioux Center will officiate. Calhoon longtime Le Mars resident died Tuesday at a Hawarden hospital. A daughter and her husband Earl Uiesel of Le Mars learned of his death while vacationing in Hawaii and made plans to return home.

The annual Easter Seal drive in Plymouth County opens with 800000 seals mailed citywide to fund therapy, braces, wheelchairs, and Camp Sunnyside for Iowa's handicapped. Volunteers anticipate higher goals to cover rising costs and expand residential camping for 34 recipients in 1962. Two cars damaged in a Thursday collision on 10th Street SE. no injuries reported.

Funeral services for Al Meis 66 owner of Good Morning Mills Le Mars were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St James Catholic Church with Rev L J LaVelle officiating. Pallbearers were four sons and two sons in law Mark Larry Richard and David Meeis of Le Mars and Nicholas Scalion add James Rawley of Marshalltown. Grandsons served as altar boys. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery under Wittgen-Luedke funeral home direction. Alphons F Meis died Tuesday at Sacred Hearts Hospital after months of illness.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Twilbury in Remsen on March 7.
Mr and Mrs John Jacobs of 305 3rd Ave NW marked 67 years of marriage with a family gathering at home. Their children and relatives attended from Akron and Le Mars. Mrs Jacobs turns 88 Friday and Mr Jacobs is 89. The couple wed March 7 1896 and farmed west of Plymouth county before moving to Le Mars 36 years ago. They have eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren with Mrs Jacobs twin brother August Becker in Germany.
