Ramona Meyler won Miss Iowa 1964 at the Le Mars pageant in the Roof Garden ballroom Arnolds Park. Crowds cheered as she outcharmed 18 rivals from across the state and earned a chance to compete in Miss Universe in Miami Beach. Regina Prusha crowned the winner.

Mrs R J Koehler Dies After Lengthy Illness Rites Tuesday

Funeral services for Mrs. R. J. Koehler aged 8 will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Ratledge funeral home in Sioux City with Rev. Joseph Gregori of St. Thomas Episcopal church officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial cemetery. She died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Survived by daughter Mrs. M. H. Tappen of Sioux City, a granddaughter, a brother M. J. Reichmann of Lead, SD, and three sisters Mrs. JoA Raven and Miss Carne Reichmann of Sraa Crs at iM OF Wil son Gaeta.

Bismarck rites launch lignite plant powering Plymouth county

Officials attend the Bismarck ceremony for a lignite fueled generating plant to empower Plymouth county Rural Electric Cooperative members by 1965. Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative and county REC leaders head a delegation at ground breaking near Bismarck North Dakota. NIPCO will join 29 member co-ops supplying power to 93 rural co-ops in eight states serving about 200000 farm families. A 9000-strong crowd gathered along the Missouri river for a nationwide style celebration with a barbecue and Ellsworth Air Force Band.
