Life's End: Betcke of Salix Dies After Illness
Joseph R Betcke 60 of Salix Iowa died in an Iowa City hospital after a year and a half of illness. Born Feb 19 1903 in Emerson Nebraska he moved with his parents to Dakota City and Wausa Nebraska. He married Mary Smill Feb 14 1931. They ran a garage at Nacora Nebraska for five years then farmed Perry Center and Salix from 1950. Survived by widow daughter Joan and son William both at home mother Mrs Mary Betcke Emerson and brothers Walter Kimberly Idaho and Eldo Nampa Idaho. Funeral services were held last Monday at W Harry Christy funeral home Morningside. burial Rose Hill cemetery Emerson Nebraska. DECATUR Neb Gary Murphy 12 son of Mrs Betty Murphy of Decatur killed last Tuesday night when hit by a truck while bicycling on highway 73 north of Decatur. The truck driven Kenneth Kruger Le Mars. Kruger said the boy suddenly turned in front of him.

Rev Raymond Fick 57 a Sioux City diocesan priest who served Whittemore Lehigh Dayton Mallard and Ute died Friday in Fort Dodge hospital after a long illness. Requiem at Corpus Christi Fort Dodge officiated by Bishop Mueller with burial in Oyens. Survived by mother five brothers and four sisters including Sister Mary Bertilda and Sister Mary Marius.

He jumped clear as the line surged through the truck, power cut for about 20 minutes until standby generators started. REMSEN NIPCO shut off Remsen line, three REA stations lost service about an hour. Minor truck damage reported.
