Helpful hints for summertime accidents focus on children and basic care. Joann K McBride shares guidance on cleaning minor cuts using water and soap, avoiding unneeded antiseptics unless directed by a doctor, and applying sterile dressings. Nosebleeds are treated with gentle nose blowing, sterile cotton with drops, and external pressure for five minutes. Minor burns get cleaned and covered with a nonstick plastic wrap, while cautions warn that butter on burns is harmful. Tourniquets are discouraged. direct pressure with a sterile pad is recommended.
