Commencement weekend at Westmar College featured 115 bachelor degrees and honorary doctorates for Dr. F. Gerald Ensley E K Bonebrake Merril W Olson and Rev D R Rokker. Alumni events included luncheons meetings and a banquet with over 150 alumni attending. Sunday baccalaureate services were led by Rev Rokker.

Le Mars Class of 13 Holds 50th Reunion in Le Mars

Twenty two members of the Le Mars high school class of 13 gathered for their 50th reunion weekend. An open house at the Le Mars Country club drew over 50 attendees, with 47 classmates listed and 13 from out of town. The event featured a roast beef dinner, Doxology, and speeches by Dr. Paul Bender, now dean at State Teachers College of Town, while decorations used maroon and white.

Westmar students fined for malicious mischief over sign incident

Five Westmar College students were fined 25 dollars and 4 dollars costs each in mayor's court for malicious mischief after a Well's Blue Bunny sign was damaged. The act involved removing a large cow's head and placing it on campus last March. Charges were filed following an investigation by Sgt. Joe Sutton and signed by Fay R. Wells.

Body of Rev Hudson's daughter found in melting snow area

In Ouray Colorado Pauline Hudson 11 was found last Thursday in the melting snow near Red Mountain Pass. The girl died in the same snowslide that killed her father Rev Marvin Hudson 39 and sister Amelia 17 on March 3. The three perished when an avalanche swept them from their car on the 11,018 foot pass. Amelia's body and wreckage were located about 600 feet north. Rev Hudson had served pastorates in Spencer and Winterset Iowa.

Thunderstorms flood Plymouth County with erratic weekend rain

David K. Tooker 86 a Merrill resident died Friday afternoon at Town City University hospital. Funeral services will be held in Merrill Tuesday under Luken's funeral home. Public assistance expenditures in Plymouth for April totaled 10 521 with 7 948 paid to old age recipients 2 229 for aid to dependent children 218 for aid to the blind and 86 to disabled recipients.
