Egypt Threats Put Pressure On UN Debate

UN Security Council met to hear Syria's protest over an Israeli raid east of the Sea of Galilee. Santa Claus Parade Planned in Comanche County

Arrangements for the Jaycees annual Christmas parade and Santa Claus party are set for downtown on Saturday. The parade begins at 2 p.m. with a 1:30 p.m. caravan formation in front of Central Junior High School. Religious floats will be featured and a kiddie Santa party follows on the courthouse lawn with Newt Burrow Jr. as Jaycee chairman. Sacks of treats will be given, and Santa will greet children. Movie Party Set Dec 24 at Dome Theater

A children's movie will be presented at 10 a.m. Christmas Eve at the Dome theater. The Elks lodge sponsors the Dec 24 line party for city and area youngsters up to sixth grade. Santa Claus will greet attendees.Prefs favors, fruit and candy will be distributed. Lawton Theater corporation co sponsors with the Elks. motion picture operators donate services.

Local post office workers, amid heavy Christmas mail, confirm the rush is in full swing with 22 extra staff on duty. They note this year’s totals are below last year’s peak, but expect the biggest flow on Saturday and Monday as deadlines loom for first class mail and parcel post.

ARARI Japan villagers reap a $10,000 harvest from a 2000 dolphin school near Tokyo after a rapid drive to a natural bay. Residents sealed the entrance with boats and marketed 599 dolphins while others stayed to swim in a makeshift aquarium. The village headman warned against over-harvesting to protect prices.

Two Teens Escape Pryor Jail With Luger Pistol

Two 17 year old youths threatened jailer Claude McCracken with a knife and escaped on foot from Mayes County jail in Pryor Oklahoma. The fugitives are Billy Gregory 17 Disney charged with auto theft and Donald Henrey 17 accused of burglary. A third youth Richard York 17 could have joined but stayed behind.

Blind Peddler Admits Bomb Extortion Plot

Portland Oregon United Press reports Clarence Peddicord a Vancouver Washington resident and blind peddler confessed to masterminding a $50000 bomb extortion plot against Meier and Frank department store. He admitted setting 12 sticks of dynamite in a store washroom during the Friday surprise sale April 15. Peddicord implicated his sister-in-law Joy Keller and both were jailed on $75000 bond.

City on Advances In Scholar Tests
