Coast Guard Plane and Tanker Rescue Maroons Monster Crew

Eleven men from the motor vessel Monster, sunk 75 miles northeast of Miami in a gale, were saved by a Coast Guard plane and the tanker Robert C. Tuttle. Captain William C. Alvers praised the rescue as waves battered the vessel before it sank near Great Isaac light in the Bahamas.

Strangling Suspect Held After Lincoln Slaying

A man was held by Lancaster County authorities for questioning in the strangling of Nancy Parker, 22, found in a barn southwest of Lincoln. Deputies said the suspect was scratched bruised cold and incoherent claiming to have left Lincoln about 9 am yesterday. Parker lay strangled in a secluded Antelope Park home about 259 yards from the nearest residence.

Tough 14, Now Ward Of Court

A 14-year-old boy accused of beating a junior high pupil was made a ward of County court and paroled to his parents after a juvenile hearing led by Judge S. R. Harper. The judge placed him under direct court control with potential transfer to the state training school for boys if trouble continues, and he may work with his father on a job at Wichita Falls. The pupil assaulted was Kenneth Fahner, 15, in the 700 block C. the boy had not attended school for three weeks.

Car Train Crash Kills 2 At Capital

A 52 year old Oklahoma City man and his son were killed in a grinding car train collision near Oklahoma City on Thursday. The deaths raised Oklahoma's 1955 traffic toll to 559, five more than a year ago. The victims were Donald Eugene Albee Sr. 52 and Donald Eugene Albee Jr. 27, both of Oklahoma City.

Santa Claus to visit Lawton with public appearances

Santa plans three public appearances in Lawton Saturday with gift conferences for local children. Activities include the Carnegie Public Library story hour at 10:30 a.m., a theater party via Lawton Elks Lodge at the Dome Theatre starting 10 a.m., and a sack of treats for attendees as St Nick greets youngsters. Co-sponsors include Centenary Methodist Youth Fellowship and Lawton Theater Corp.

Tipler Fined for Assault in Lawton Case

Tom Tipler former Lawton Negro policeman appeared in county attorney’s office and was fined ten dollars and costs on a charge of assault and battery. He also pleaded guilty for Deloise Hart and paid her fine on a vagrancy charge after they left courthouse together. Hart suffered a forehead wound requiring stitches and accused Tipler of blackjack assault following an argument.

New York news recounts Magistrate Charles Solomon dismissing eight parking cases in traffic court. He quipped you cannot prosecute a car while extending his weekly stint ending today. The motorist invoked the right to remain mute and the cases were dismissed.

Tragic triple slayings trigger manhunt in Vandergrift

In Vandergrift Pennsylvania a 17 year old, John Fallone, killed three Smail family members and wounded a police chief Gus Zanos then shot a wounded officer and fled. He was tracked to a ridge behind his home and captured after a morning standoff. The 15 year old Gladys Smail was wounded, and her parents Warren and Irene Smail along with brother William A Smail were slain. Fallone had previously warned the family and his threats were recounted by Justice Homer King.

Jail Terms For Drunk Drivers Don’t Clutter Docket

Comanche county and city courts show the new mandatory jail sentence for driving while intoxicated did not clutter dockets or lower guilty pleas. Of 151 cases filed this year, 13 are pending. County court filed 103 DWI cases through November, with nine pending, and 28 filed since June, four pending. About 86 percent of the 28 since the law took effect were pleas of guilty. City court filed 14 DWI cases between February 25 and June 15, with 11 pleas of guilty. See DRUNK DRIVING, Page 2.

Edmondson Tours East Berlin on U.S. Army Car

Rep. Ed Edmondson of Oklahoma toured East Berlin in a U S Army car with a radiotele phone. He reported no incidents and said police ignored the car despite Warsaw Pact claims of East Berlin sovereignty. The trip followed prior detentions of two congressmen for similar travel.

Durant Fire Kills 4 Boys

Four youths died in a Durant Oklahoma house fire while their mother Mrs Womack was critically burned. The victims were Leon 19 Bobby 14 Jay 7 and Hilton Berry 18. Linda Jean 10 was away overnight. The family’s father had lit a wood stove fire earlier and left for work. The mother remained hospitalized with severe burns.

Nasser Issues Final Ultimatum to Israel

In Cairo Prime Minister Gamal Abdel Nasser warned that Egypt will act if Israel launches another attack. He said Arab peaceful behavior will end while Israel remains aggressive and told reporters he notified British and American ambassadors and would forward the warning to UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold.

John Transferred As Reporter Reveals Secret Of Escape

Otto John former West German intelligence chief is reportedly moved from Bonn to Wiesbaden for more questioning. The 46 year old who defected to East Germany in 1954 and returned to West Germany says he was drugged and carried across the border. He spoke to Hendrik Bonds-Hendriksen and said he did not disclose secrets and was stunned by the events including being taken to Moscow and Crimea before return to East Berlin.
