Unanimous Dismissal Backed by Western Oklahoma Regents
Western Oklahoma State College regents reaffirmed their decision not to rehiring Gerald Davis as music director despite his appeal at a public hearing attended by about 50 people. The case centered on Davis producing a quality program but lacking audience turnout and the administration cited diminishing vitality in the music program under his leadership. Davis, 28, faced termination after a July 1975 hire, with his contract due July 15, while his attorney argued the firing stemmed from vocal opposition to a tenure policy and campus dissension.
