Prohibition arrests spark local controversy after raid
Sheriff Carmean yesterday arrested Henry Marti and his wife and Henry Junior on indictments by the Grand Jury for violation of the Prohibitory law. Authorities found four barrels of Milwaukee beer, a twenty gallon whiskey keg not opened, three twenty gallon kegs partly full, and six barrels of Watruff's beer. The beer was bottled and packed in barrels marked applec and stored in the cellar. The sheriff faced criticism for what some call high handed action while others commend the enforcement of the law.
