Lawrence housing authority earns high marks in federal review
The Lawrence Housing Authority received a 97 of 100 in the Public Housing Management Assessment Program, ranking among the nation’s top authorities. Executive Director Barbara Huppee says the designation could unlock more bank loans and housing, with 722 families served and about 2,000 people affected in Lawrence and Douglas County.

Former KU player to be featured on Most Wanted
Three men who remain at large after escaping from an Arizona jail including a former Kansas University football player will be shown on America's Most Wanted Tuesday. Kenny Drayton, 23, who played for KU from 1988 to 1991, was convicted Sept. 10 on 14 charges including rape kidnapping sodomy and armed robbery. The program airs at 8 p.m. on KSHB Channel 41 in Kansas City.

Planners mull new private school site in Lawrence
Lawrence planners will hear a Use Permitted Upon Review for Century School at 816 Ky as part of a Wednesday meeting at city hall. The proposed private school for ages 3 to 11 would run 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. year round with about 30 students to start and eventual enrollment up to 100.
