Kansas obesity rate could double by 2030
A new study projects Kansas adult obesity rising to 62 percent by 2030, potentially causing 367000 Type 2 diabetes cases and 769000 heart disease and stroke cases. Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation released the 124 page report.

Lawrence physician identified in train strike death
Lawrence police identified 56 year old Patricia A. Denning a physician and longtime Watkin Memorial Health Center staff physician as the pedestrian killed by a train in east Lawrence Monday morning near the Santa Fe Railroad station at Seventh and New York. No foul play is suspected. Denning led community health responses to mumps and H1N1 and helped establish the Student Health Services Travel Clinic.
