City golf clubs dispute city water billing overcharges
City of Lawrence officials would write off 65,000 in water bills for Alvamar Country Club and Lawrence Country Club, while the two clubs dispute the settlement. The city says the courses still owe about 260,000 for underbilled water, with underbilling histories cited for 2008 2011 at Alvamar and 2009 2011 at Lawrence Country Club. Assistant City Manager Cynthia Wagner said discussions continue and suggested reductions to 200,000 and 60,000 respectively, though neither club has agreed.

Kansas tests fall again as minority scores dip
Kansas education officials confirmed a statewide decline in 2012 test results, the first drop since No Child Left Behind.
