Sunflower field draws crowd and donations in Grinter venture
About 25,000 visitors this year filled the sunflower field run by Kris and Ted Grinter. Donations of $1 per flower helped fund planting 1 million seeds, though roughly 50,000 flowers were damaged or taken. The Grinters note the venture supports the local economy and offers photo opportunities, despite costs of about $10,000 yearly. The fields are now closed pending harvest.
