Western Europe faces inflation warn despite reconstruction cuts
Western Europe is warned by IMF directors at a Paris meeting that inflation remains a danger unless reconstruction spending is reduced and wage increases are restrained. The 160 page report argues that persistent government and private investment at current levels will lift export prices, risking loss of the American market. It calls for higher export production and reduced investment to free labor and materials for exports. The report, presented by Camille Gutt, values the fund's assets at about 7.92 billion dollars, with gold at 1.46 billion.
