Two Groups Keep Pace On Incomes
Washington reports government income statistics show farmers and factory workers improving at similar rates from the low mood. Total farmer income for the year is about 6.8 billion dollars, 66.5 percent of the 1925 29 average, while manufacturing payrolls total 7.4 billion dollars, 68 percent of pre mood levels. The 1925 29 averages were 10.22 and 10.95 billion respectively, with farm income dropping to 4.33 billion in 1932 and payrolls to 4.875 billion. Retail prices rose slower than producer income, with 1913 levels at 156 percent in 1925 29 terms, dipping to 100 in 1933, and projected at 122 percent of 1913 levels for this year. Don Montgomery estimates retail price level at 122 percent of 1913 and 78 percent of the 1925 29 average.
