Local teen Fred Simon dies in liquor raid
A coroner jury rules sixteen year old farmer Fred Simon killed himself with a shotgun during a police raid for liquor. Testimony shows he had been morose over financial troubles while brother Charles reported no response when entering the home. Chester Mowder testified he and Fred were in the house during the raid and avoided alerting the brother to the liquor operation.

De Soto Man Injured in Highway Crash Drives to Hospital
De Soto resident Teeter Douglas, 25, owner of a Bonner Springs car agency, was seriously injured today after his car collided with a machine on Highway No. 10 two miles east of De Soto.
