London endures a devastating night as German raids kill many and level a school, strike a college, and ruin a major London square. Rescue teams battle wreckage amid scattered alarms and widespread destruction across London and coastal areas of Britain.
Turkish President Inonu met the new Soviet ambassador Sergei V. Vingradov with Marshal Fevzi Chackmak present. A Turkish pledge to aid Greece if attacked was reported while Bulgaria described possible Turkey Russia military talks.
Democrats plan two campaign talks in Douglas county on Friday with Governor candidate W H Burke and former U S ambassador John Cudahy. Burke visits Baldwin noon to 2 15 pm and speaks on the city hall steps. Cudahy speaks at the Armory at 8 pm after a Topeka stop.
On a Willkie train bound for Cincinnati he urged cooperation of labor, industry, and agriculture to broaden prosperity. He argued no inherent conflict among American groups and promised an expanding economy with jobs and higher living standards for all.
A Republicans meeting sponsored by the county Young GOP club will be held at Vinland High School tomorrow night at 8 o clock. Chairman Bob Oyler announces Willard Morgan will address the group. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.
