The decomposed body of a woman believed to be Minnie Gotthardt was found under 12 feet of sand on a San Antonio beach near Ingleside. Clifton Wheeler, a tavern handyman, was charged as Joe Ball’s death and dismemberment cases unfold. Wheeler aided in dismembering Hazel Brown’s body dug from a shallow Elmendorf grave. Ball shot himself during questioning. Ball’s widow, brought from California, is held as a material witness.
