Notre Dame Keeps ROTC But Harvard Backs End
Notre Dame’s academic council voted to continue ROTC while Harvard’s undergraduate faculty recommended ending ROTC by 1971. Harvard proposals include denying academic credit for ROTC, denying ROTC instructors faculty appointments, and limiting participation to enrolled or advanced-program students at Cambridge. Notre Dame asked deans to decide ROTC credit and sought policies allowing withdrawal without penalties.

Divorce Law Campaign Gaining Support in Italy
In Rome the drive to legalize divorce gains momentum as five parties join to defeat a Christian Democrat motion defending the 1946 constitution and Lateran Pacts. Socialist and Communist deputies argue the reaffirmation does not constitutionalize the pacts. The Christian Democrats and minor allies face likely defeats in both chambers as opposition grows.
