About 70 Kansas University students must appear before the faculty-student committee for disciplinary action tied to the Memorial Stadium field sit-in on May 9. Two people were treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a collision on the Kansas Turnpike just east of the East Lawrence interchange. Dorn Jozsef of Evanston Illinois and Orwin Youngquist, also of Evanston, were injured. damage to Jozsef’s car was about 1400 dollars and Poague’s 100. A second single vehicle crash near the same location tore out 175 feet of guard rail before the car rolled over. no injuries were reported and damage was about 750 dollars.
Jean Noel reports a locked car burglary with a stereo and 23 tapes valued at 240 dollars taken. Dana Bennett reports theft from an unlocked car valued at 226 dollars including a stereo and tapes. A. H. North reports hubcaps and chrome rings stolen from a car on Ohio Street. Vandals damage Norge Laundry window with pellet gun. Dennis Supancic reports two right tires slashed on a Cadet Street car. Total damages range 25 to 125 dollars.
Paris AP report says North Vietnam's Allan Thuy travels to Hanoi for consultations tied to the Nixon 8 point peace plan. Allied diplomats see the move as a response to the Paris talks and note Le Duc Tho, a Hanoi politburo member, is in Paris as adviser.
Lawrence directors and committee chairmen met to map the 19 chamber committees and launch programs. KU Aero nautical Engineering will receive an F-11 jet trainer at 1 15 to 1 30 p m Sunday for the Lawrence Air Show. Baccalaureate and commencement rites for Lawrence High are set for Sunday and Monday at 4 p m and 8 p m respectively. Douglas County jury members are not required Monday but must report June 2.
President Nixon praised a Minnesota band during a White House Rose Garden concert after a seven week Soviet tour. The tuba soloist Stan ford Freese drew applause as the Soviet ambassador joked about appointing the tuba player an assistant secretary of state.
No one was hurt in two separate city accidents Friday. At 17th and Ala streets a three car collision caused 350 in damage with Linda Licktig and John Oehlert as drivers. A second wreck near Mass Street damaged five vehicles, with William Wilson and Herta Galton reporting damage totals.
Roosevelt, eldest son of the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was released from Roosevelt Hospital in Geneva after a stab wound from a family quarrel. An associate said he was in rather good shape and hoped to resume work next week. He is a 61 year old director of an international investment group headquartered in Geneva. he was stabbed in the back with a five inch wound nine days ago.
Berkeley faculty vote 642 to 95 to end National Guard presence and tear gas near People’s Park. They call for state Atty. Gen. Lynch and the U.S. Justice Department inquiry into police and military actions over the past eight days. Nine UC campuses plan class boycotts as Davis discusses Berkeley issue with administrators.
Tonganoxie High School will hold Baccalaureate at 8 p.m. Sunday in the high school auditorium with Rev. Herman Karriker and Rev. Edward Hobby officiating. Valedictorian Gary Ditty and Salutatorian Helen Breese lead graduation exercises at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the gym. Ditty and Breese are 17 and the children of Morris Ditty and E F Breese. An invocation and benediction will be given by Rev. Robert Sharp.
