High court weighs trafficway case in Kansas Supreme Court
Attorneys for Douglas County and plaintiffs argued the high court's reaction was hard to gauge after oral sessions on the South Lawrence Trafficway dispute. The case revolves around binding election issues and prior bond actions, with dates spanning 1985 to 1990 and possible new elections if binding statements are deemed contractual. Judges’ timing varied from weeks to months, with no clear forecast.

County to review parkway proposal in Douglas County
Douglas County Commission plans to follow Lawrence city alignment for the Eastern Parkway linking Highway 10 east of Lawrence with downtown. The corridor runs north of the Santa Fe tracks from North Road to East 15th Street, crossing the tracks at Highth Street near the depot. Two homes along East 11th Street and a building serving three businesses lie in the path. The panel meets 7 a.m. in the courthouse to discuss zoning, hazardous materials, executive session, parking lease with Lawrence, employee health plans, and a merger of the Emergency Preparedness board with the Local Emergency Planning Committee. The board later approved the 1992 highway local and overlay program totaling 50.7 miles of seal work and 5.5 miles of overlay at about 325000 dollars, and reappointed Bob Johnson Sr. to the Bert Nash board.
