Wolfe retirement noted at appreciation dinner
Frionats Mr and Mrs W D Wolfe hosted an appreciation dinner in the Kansas Union for Mr Wolfe as he closes 12 years as Lawrence school superintendent. Relatives from Wichita Overland Park Wellington and Kansas City attended along with Mrs Wolfe’s mother Mrs Ella Quarles of Atchison.

The Wheelock residence at 2115 La St is among five sites on the Sunday House Beautiful Tour by the Lawrence Branch AAUW. The pre Civil War style Lambert green frame house features a central kitchen, antique furnishings, and a mix of European and American decorative items. Owner Dr. Wheelock, a KU history lecturer, shares a rare mint edition travels book and a pet lineup including Siamese cats and a Bouvier des Flandres.

WSWS at EUB Church Sponsors Annual Mother Daughter Banquet
Approximately 135 persons attended the WSWS annual mother daughter banquet of the Evangelical United Brethren Church on Wednesday. Dinner was served by WSWS of Stull EUB Church. Youngest and oldest mothers received gifts of potted plants. The plant gifts also went to the mother with the most granddaughters and the guest from the greatest distance. A sanctuary program followed the dinner.
