Kansas University alumni events center on milestone reunions for several classes. The Class of 1927 achieves 100 percent KU Alumni Association membership at commencement with a 6:30 p.m. dinner and a noon Sunday luncheon in the Kansas Union. Other gatherings include the Class of 1937 with a 6:30 p.m. dinner at the Eldridge Hotel and a noon Sunday luncheon led by Ross Robertson. The Class of 1922 plans its 40th anniversary and a presidential mixer, while Class of 1912 prepares its golden anniversary reminiscence dinner and a noon Union luncheon. KU Names Dean Surface as New Administration Leader
Dr Wescoe announced the appointment of Dean Surface to a key campus post with duties across the faculties. Surface, 41, a KU 1942 arts and sciences graduate, Harvard MBA and Doctor of Commercial Science, will reside in Frank Strong Hall and work with deans and staff. he will serve as acting chancellor when Wescoe is absent. He previously chaired the School of Business staff changes were noted. Surface and his wife Mary Shaver are Salina natives with five children. Wiley Mitchell becomes acting dean of the KU Business School on July 1. Mitchell earned KU degrees in 1946 and 1947 and is a CPA. The Mitchells live at 1345 Engel Rd with two daughters.
