Three Teens Hurt in One Car Wreck East of City
At about 9 20 p m Tuesday a single vehicle wreck two miles west of the city injured three youths. Driver Alexander B Mitch ell 17 of 1626 W 20th St suffered head cuts and bruises while passengers Charles Thomas 17 of Clinton and Lynn Smart 17 of 1655 St St had bruises. The 1956 car was demolished according to the Sheriff's Department.

Doctors Protest AMA Ad Rejection on Kennedy Health Plan
A physicians group backing Kennedy aged care plan protested AMA publications refused to run their ad. Dr Caldwell B Esselstyn said the bid, about 1300 dollars, was rejected as not conforming to AMA standards though the group argues for free choice and Social Security funded care. The committee grew from 40 to about 1000 supporters.

Miss Wanda Brown 16 formerly of Lawrence died Tuesday in Cumberland City Tennessee. Funeral services will be Saturday in Cumberland City. Survivors include an aunt Mrs Abbie Ramey a sister Ethel Louise Brown a brother Warren Brown Jr an uncle George Brown two aunts and many relatives in the area. Mrs Nancy Elma Kingery 77 of 644 Mo St died early this morning at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Funeral services set for 2 p m Friday at Willow Springs Church with John Beeghley in charge. Burial in Washington Creek Cemetery. Survivors include husband William W Kingery three daughters Mrs Florence Bond Mrs Mabel Disque and Mrs Myrtle Kampschroeder two sons Everett Kingery and Lonzie Kingery three sisters Mrs Jennie Scheffler Mrs Floretta Huston and Miss Salome Terwillegar seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Rumsey Funeral Home until noon Friday.

Convention Visitors Boost City Incomes by £ 2 Million
An estimated $2 million was pumped into the Lawrence economy during the past year by convention delegates. The city hosted 46 853 visitors from May 1961 to May 1962 with 33 480 at KU summer programs and 7 610 at KU winter activities. Delegates spent $518 990, and using a fourfold multiplier the local economy gained about $2 million. The committee discussed boosting the city as a convention site and coordinating city university services to improve visitor hospitality.

Four Killed in Fire at Whiteman Air Base Missouri
A blaze on a B47 bomber at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster Missouri killed four men and injured eighteen. The dead include airman 2nd class Joseph Palagonia 20 from Brooklyn New York airman third class Jacob Lang 18 from Chicago and airman third class Wayne A Hower 19 from Allentown Pennsylvania and Kansas City firefighter Paul E Ralls 34 who headed the base fire department. The three man crew had been inspecting the aircraft before a training mission when a fuel tank ignited. Most casualties were base firemen and aircraft mechanics treated at the base hospital for burns.
