Sigma Alpha Epsilon captured the Kansas University intramural fast-pitch softball crown by defeating The Annex 13 to 1. Winning pitcher Marty Noltericke held The Annex to four hits. SAE previously finished as runner-up to The Rebels last spring.

Rick Wise pitched a five-hitter for the shutout, while Philadelphia loaded the bases in the first and twice more in the second. Cookie Rojas was ejected for arguing a steal call. Hank Aaron reached career totals with two homers in Atlanta’s 6-5 win over the Mets.
Cesar Tovar spoiled Dave McNally's bid for a perfect game with a ninth inning single as Baltimore beat Minnesota 5-0. McNally allowed one hit in 8 1 3 innings and earned his sixth straight win. Jim Northrup and Dick McAuliffe homered for Detroit in a 2-1 win over Chicago in 10 innings. Jad Kirkpatrick drove in four for Kansas City in a win over Cleveland as Luis Tiant suffered his seventh straight loss.
Royals catcher Jim Campanis shone with a $100 home run contest win and three homers in the park during the game against Cleveland. He doubled in KC’s first run in the fourth, then dived head first into the Royals dugout while chasing a foul ball, returning unscathed and joking he hit his head.
Unbeaten Majestic Prince pursues a ninth straight win in the $182000 Preakness at Pimlico Saturday. Other top races include the $100000 Californian at Hollywood Park and $50000 Acorn at Aqueduct.
