Lawrence Bands Through the Years a City Music Tradition
The Gazette recounts Lawrence bands from 1854 onward, from early settlers who formed the first Kansas musical group to Bell and Buchs Military Bands. It notes performances across parks, notable concerts after floods, and later ties to Roosevelt’s 1900 stop. The piece highlights key figures, venues, and the enduring band culture.
