Romance on the flying trapeze unsettles campus satire
A humorous yet pointed essay on romance and bravado parodies exaggerated athletic myths in a law school banquet scene. The piece references Kansas University's famed athletes, a rumored “Red Wolf of Kansas” interest in a circus performer, and campus social events including Phi Beta Kappa initiation and sorority parties. It also notes campus administration actions and prankish tree-watering by gardeners at Green Hall.
