County to consider heritage grants for Lawrence Turnhalle recovery

Douglas County commissioners will review six heritage grants including a 125000 award to start restoring the Turnhalle German for gymnasium at 900 Rhode Island St. Built in 1869, the Turnhalle is a historic social hub listed on the National Register. Preservation efforts aim to place a permanent easement and transfer ownership to another group or private buyer.

KBA presses culture shift as funding comes under review

Kansas Bioscience Authority leader Duane Cantrell touts an improved relationship with state legislators as the agency pursues a new investment policy.
