Lawrence notes advise that rabbits becoming permanent residents this Easter need not face mite problems. Professor Joseph Camin of Kansas University recommends dimethyl phthalate or Dri-Die 67 for ear mites in rabbits. Chick mites are less common and can be treated with Dri-Die 67 or Neutran dust. The Lawrence High School track and field meet was canceled for the second straight week due to snow and ice, forcing the Lions to forfeit their dual with Shawnee Mission East after yesterday’s rain postponed last week’s events.

Johnson Seeks Health Care for the Aged via Social Security
President Johnson, hopeful Congress will act this year on elderly health care funded through Social Security, says he will press for action. Sen. Three Airmen Hurt In Pike Turnpike Crash
Three airmen were hospitalized after a one car crash on the Turnpike ten miles west of the West Lawrence interchange. Tolley 18 of Schilling Air Force Base Salina suffered a possible broken left leg. two Schilling AFB colleagues Fernandez 17 with head cuts and possible concussion and Riedl 22 with a sprained back were also injured. Trooper Harold Bowers investigated four separate accidents at the same site including Pasley 21 Kansas City Kan and Pate 22 Kansas City Mo. King 48 Wakefield tractor trailer with no injuries. Total damage ranged from 100 to 1300 dollars.

Two Topeka Men Injured In Highway 24 40 Wreck
Two Topeka residents were reported in fair condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a Tuesday morning crash on Highway 24 40 about three miles northeast of Lawrence. Carl Osburn, 44, had a broken shoulder, three broken ribs and possible internal injuries. Delbert Osburn, 39, suffered head cuts, an injured ear, and internal abdominal injuries.
