In Columbus Ohio an adventurous dentist fitted a steel crown to four fangs of a two year old jaguar at the Columbus Zoo. The procedure, done under sedation, aimed to restore strength to the animal’s damaged teeth from an enamel defect, with Dr Edward Jones and zoo veterinarian Dr Lee Simmons taking part.

Mrs. Mary Josephine Middlekauf, Hays Kansas oldest resident and last of the original settlers, died Sunday aged 103. A Leavenworth native, she arrived in 1867 and recalled frontier life with Buffalo Bill and Wild Bill Hickock. She leaves a daughter, a son, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral is Tuesday afternoon.
Eight U S Air Force F105s strafed and bombed targets in North Viet Nam with one fighter downed but rescued. The mission, described as reconnaissance for targets of opportunity, marked a new type of raid. South Vietnamese and American planes also attacked a base near Vu Con, 15 miles inside North Viet Nam, with 52 tons of bombs and rockets.
