Lawrence considers city funded sidewalk repairs policy
Lawrence city commissioners weigh a new administrative policy to fund sidewalk repairs for owner occupied homes. The plan offers a 50/50 cost share for multi edge properties and a HUD based low income program first come first served, with funding from a pedestrian CIP and possible future use of the infrastructure sales tax. The policy aims to increase compliance, reduce burdens on landlords, and guide enforcement of decades old sidewalk maintenance rules.
