Welding men and Kansas water and sewage works operators will convene at the University of Kansas Thursday morning for meetings. It will be the tenth annual conference for the Kansas Water and Sewage Works association at Marvin hall through Saturday morning. Frank E. Willey, Lawrence city water superintendent, is president. The KU school of engineering and the Kansas state board of health will participate. More than 115 attended last year. attendance is expected to rise. The third annual welding conference runs Thursday and Friday with lectures on safety codes and handling volatile materials. A welding apparatus display will be shown at Fowler shops for water works interest. About 18 operators have been in a KU laboratory school since Monday. courses end this evening. Registration opens 8:30 in Marvin hall. welders register at 9 in the Administration building. Prof. F. A. Russell will open the water meeting at 9:30, with remarks by President Willey and Secretary-Treasurer Earnest Boyce. The morning features four lectures by health and engineering officials. Afternoon sessions include further talks from sanitary and engineering experts. G. F. Dickins will demonstrate welding pipe fittings in power plant piping. Lindley will open the meeting with talks from Chancellor Lindley and Prof. Russell. Morning speakers include W. M. B. Brady, Achenbrenner, and C. B. Herrick. Clarence S. Jones will preside. J. A. Hall and F. Hutchinson will speak in the afternoon. The annual water and sewage works banquet is Friday at the Kansas Union. officers for the coming year will be elected.
